Thanks to Ventorros Press for sending me an advanced copy of Little Flower by Jenny Rumney. Once again, Ventorros Press proudly release a title that's not afraid to tackle the difficult issues that children may face. This time the young protagonist has to deal with Mum losing a baby.
The story is told through the eyes of a young girl whose whole life, like every child's, revolves around school, friends and a loving family. It reminds us that falling out with friends at school can run parallel to massive life-changing issues happening at home. As I always tell my class, we never know what's going on in each other's lives, so kindness should always be our first response.
The story conveys the honesty of sadness for all involved. But in turn, from despair grows hope. And although, Little Flower deals with a traumatic family event, it serves as a tale of resilience and love.
Yes, Little Flower is about Love: the invisible glue of life that holds us all together in good times and bad.
