Believe in Yourself, Be Proud of Your Tune: A Music Poem for Kids

Writer: Mark BirdMark Bird

Updated: 1 day ago

As a poet, I love using music to inspire confidence in children. My poem Change Your Tune is all about celebrating those moments when you shine and believe in yourself. Whether it's mastering a skill, following your dreams, or just feeling proud of who you are, there's always a rhythm to match your success.

Music is a wonderful way for kids to express themselves, and this poem encourages young readers to embrace their talents—whether it's playing an instrument, solving a problem, or simply being their unique selves. So, next time you achieve something great, don’t be afraid to make some noise—pick up your tambourine, strum your air guitar, and be proud of what you can do!

Change Your Tune (Blow Your Own Trumpet)

I don’t like to blow my own trumpet

But some days I sow magic beans

So maybe I won’t blow my trumpet

But might shake my big tambourine

I don’t like to blow my own trumpet

But some days I perch on a throne

So maybe I won’t blow my trumpet

But might slide my brassy trombone

I don’t like to blow my own trumpet

But some days I shine like a star

So maybe I won’t blow my trumpet

But might strum my wild air guitar

I don’t like to blow my own trumpet

But some days I know all my sums

So maybe I won’t blow my trumpet

But might bang the beat of my drum

I don’t like to blow my own trumpet

But some days I follow my heart

So maybe I won’t blow my trumpet

But might pluck the strings of my harp

Children joyfully play various musical instruments, including drums, trumpet, and guitar, against a lively, colorful background with musical notes.
