A No Pens Day poem to celebrate Speech and Language UK's No Pens Day

Updated: Oct 14

No Pens Day is an exciting fundraiser taking place on Wednesday November 27th, 2024! It’s a chance for children to put their pens down, talk, listen, and take part in lots of pen-free activities, all whilst having fun raising valuable funds for Speech and Language UK.

No Pens Day: Speech and Language UK

I had previously written a poem called, 'A No Screen Day' and thought I would edit it to celebrate this year's wonderful No Pens Day initiative by Speech and Language UK. I hope you enjoy my reading of A No Pens Day Poem in the video below.

💡Why not get your class to recite and act out my A No Pens Day poem. No pens needed! 😁 You can find a copy of my A No Pens Day poem at the bottom of this post.

A No Pens Day (A Villanelle Poem)

Put down your pens, today’s a no pen day

Let’s exercise our ears to listen well

Imagination needs no pens to play

Let’s summon all the words we want to say

Let’s sync our hands and tongues to show and tell

Put down you pens, today’s a no pen day

Let’s dress as knights, go forth and dragon-slay

Let’s laugh with friends and cast a magic spell

Imagination needs no pens to play

Let’s paint a picture, let’s get out the clay

Let’s sing and use our voices to excel

Put down you pens, today’s a no pen day

Let’s speak with love and language our own way

Let’s see ourselves beyond the way we spell

Imagination needs no pens to play

Let’s hang our hidden pride upon display

Let’s hear, let’s feel, let’s see, let’s taste, let’s smell

Put down you pens, today’s a no pen day

Imagination needs no pens to play
